So, as part of our Texture study, one assignment is to gather natural and synthetic materials to create an interesting composition and texture. This is the...thing I made. It somehow ended up with a political message that wasn't intentional. >_<

Shape Madness!

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

All right, so, these are the assignments I made for my Design I class.
We could only use flat shapes to show each objective of the assignment.
For example...

This was the first assignment. In the left frame, we had to show High Contrast shapes. I chose tree limbs. And in the right frame, an example of Low Contrast.

Second assignment.
Left panel- Symmetrical composition.
Right- Asymmetrical using similar shapes.

Third assignment.
Left panel- Shape dominance
Right panel- Figure-ground reversal.

Fourth assignment.
Left panel- Emphasis by shape difference.
Right panel- Emphasis by scale/size.

So, overall, I got an A- for my Shape project. Probably not an A or A+ because of neatness. My prof is a friggin' cleanliness crazy. -_- I'm...kinda pleased with how they turned out, though. Ink is possibly the most annoying and difficult medium (oil takes the crown for crappiest medium...ever :P). But anyway, on to Texture....

So, I made a logo for the club that I joined at school- the Student-Alumni Association. It was officially adopted as the club's logo today at our meeting. :)

Along Came A...

Spider that I drew in Corel Painter X a couple months ago. It's charcoal and chalk. I think that it turned out pretty well, sans reference photo. The lighting on the legs is off, but whatever. :)
